James Jianzhang Liang has served as a director since December 2017. Mr. Liang is one of the co-founders and the Executive Chairman of the board of Trip.com Group Ltd (Nasdaq: TCOM), a leading travel service provider in China. He was the chief executive officer of Trip.com Group Ltd from 2000 to January 2006, and from March 2013 to November 2016. Under his leadership, Trip.com Group has successfully transitioned from offline to online and from desktop to mobile, made strategic investments in key industry players, and cultivated and invested in new business ideas, and established industry-leading operational standards and processes. Mr. Liang has been awarded with various accolades for his contributions to the travel industry, including 2019 Forbes China Multinational Business Leader, Best CEO in the Internet category in the 2016 All-Asia Executive Team Rankings by Institutional Investor and 2015 China’s Business Leader of the Year by Forbes. He is also the author of multiple publications, including the Rise of the Network Society and his latest book published in 2018 The Demographics of Innovation . Prior to co-founding Trip.com Group, Mr. Liang held a number of technical and managerial positions with Oracle Corporation from 1991 to 1999. Mr. Liang currently serves as Co-Chairman of Tongcheng-eLong (HKSE:7080) and on the board of MakeMyTrip (Nasdaq: MMYT). He is also research professor of economics at Peking University. Mr. Liang received his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University and his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also attended an undergraduate program at Fudan University.
